Welcome to Vidjeparken, a holiday-home area on the Kattegat coast east of Als in Mariagerfjord Municipality, Denmark. Most houses here are privately owned holiday homes, and the area is looked after by the residents’ association, Grundejerforeningen Vidjeparken.

Quiet hours

Please keep noise down after 22:00. That includes music, power tools, lawnmowers and outdoor gatherings. Sound carries a long way here, especially on still evenings, and many guests are here precisely for the quiet.

Fire and open flames

The area is dry and wooded in places, and a fire spreads quickly. Open fires, bonfires and fireworks are subject to the association’s fire regulations and to Danish law. Barbecues must be supervised at all times, and ashes must be fully extinguished before they are thrown away — never into a bin or onto the ground.

If a fire breaks out, call 1-1-2 immediately. Give the address of the house you are staying in.

Waste and recycling

Denmark sorts household waste into several fractions, and the bins at your house are marked accordingly. Sorting guides are available in English at the local waste company. Do not leave bags beside the bins — take anything that does not fit to the recycling centre in Als.

Roads and shared areas

The roads inside Vidjeparken are private and maintained by the association. Please drive slowly — children, cyclists and walkers use the same roads, and there are no pavements. Parking is on your own plot, not on the road or on the grass verges, which cover the drainage ditches.

The beach and nature

The coast and the meadows are open to everyone. Dogs must be kept on a lead from 1 April to 30 September and under control the rest of the year. Please take your litter home, and leave the dunes and beach grass undisturbed — they hold the coastline together.

There is a defibrillator in the area. When you call 1-1-2, the operator will tell you where the nearest one is and talk you through using it.

Useful to know

The nearest towns for shopping are Als and Hadsund. Mobile coverage is generally good; mains water and electricity are supplied as normal. The area is not yet connected to public sewerage — connection is planned for 2028.
